Lady Lucy has been researching the 6,000 drawings in Bristol's City Museum & Art Gallery archives. Drawings in the collection represent over 500 years of art and history. Come and view a selection of these rarely seen but accessible treasures as Lucy sets exercises that will unravel the archival pieces. Drawings included are by famous 20th century artists such as Ernst Ludwig Kirchner and Henri Gaudier Brzeska and other lesser well known artists including Thomas Sidney Cooper a Georgian amateur animal sketcher and 18th Century Bristol domestic garden documenter Thomas Pole.

BIO~

Lucy Woollett aka Lady Lucy lives and works in London. Her innovative projects, often collaborations, are characterised by a Do It Your Self accessibility. Lady Lucy.s inspirations, tools and materials include: feminism, underground comics, pop culture, documentary, libraries, archives, events, portraiture and performance. She is constantly creating series of drawn and painted work and had a solo show : Being Lady Lucy : Drawings and Sketchbooks 2004 -2006. at UNIT 2 Gallery, London Metropolitan University. Recent projects include : Carson McCullers' Colours ( 2008), a 79 piece text painting, a formal and conceptual play on the cult author's use of colour symbolism, and Ladies, All The Ladies (2008) produced through Picture This: Small Wonders, a film project documenting female DJs and MCs with the same moniker as the artist . Lucy completed her MAFA at Chelsea College in 2008.
