DETAILS ~

One spring evening, starting at Arnolfini in response to the current exhibition, Laura Oldfield Ford will take drawing exchangers on an 'Urban Drift' walk around the city docks, a site that has gone through several laps of regeneration and transformation. Be a drawing flaneur and spectator of the construction industries follies, flops and persistence. Look out for the goodies and baddies of the sites of dystopian transformation and take note. Out of the drawing produced a fanzine will emerge.

This workshop relates to Arnolfini's current exhibition, The Good Life. The galleries close at 6pm, so come along early to see it before the workshop starts.

If its raining we will drift via the bars, cafes, shelters and doorsways of the area.

BIO~

Well known for her politically active and poetic engagement with London as a site of social antagonism. Something that would appear quite ordinary for most, provides Oldfield Ford with poetic contemplation and possibilities from which her drawings can develop. It is this balance between the politics of the 'kitchen sink', prevalent in so much of the best British Post War art, and the physiological vibrations from the past and future city that Oldfield Ford skillfully taps into, that make this work so relevant right now. Laura also produces a cheaply made zine, entitled .Savage Messiah. which has become a regular vehicle for her psycho-geographic explorations of the metropolis.
