DETAILS ~
Find your 'Light and Dark' side with this drawing event focusing on the
Alter Ego.
The event will start with the award-winning documentary short 'Light and
Dark' made by and about two Bristol based animators and filmmakers Michael
Smith and Tom Stubbs.
'Light and Dark' (2008) is a phantasmagorical autobiographic documentary
film exploring the minds of both of the filmmakers, both have alter egos,
but whereas Michael's Alter ego is a muscled anthropomorphic fox with a taste
for sex, dark humour and violence, Tom's Alter ego is an earnest, technology
obsessed video engineer. Through a combination of animation, live action,
talking heads and documentary footage the two director's talk about, and act
out their alter egos. All within the space of ten minutes!
Light and Dark will form a starting point. Participants will find and sketch
out their own alter egos; both Michael Smith, Tom Stubbs and their regular
collaborator Joff Winterhart will be there to discuss the film, and tease
out the fledgling alter ego from even the most reluctant, come along and
find out who you really are!
