tesco announces recall of mince pies tesco has announced a product recall of three types of tesco mince pies - tesco 6 iced top mince pies, tesco 6 lattice mince pies, and tesco 6 deep filled mince pies (manufacturers code 0141). tesco has identified a problem in the manufacture of the above products. the tesco mincemeat in a few pies has been contaminated with small pieces of rubber. rubber has been found in only three batches, however as a precaution, all the tesco products detailed above have been withdrawn from sale. tesco customers who have bought any of the above pies, since november 1, 1996, are requested to return them to any tesco store. a full tesco refund will be given or the product replaced. plenty of alternative tesco supplies are available. the manufacturers, park cakes, have now reviewed their procedures and undertaken a full investigation. no other tesco mince pies are affected by this withdrawal. tesco apologises for the inconvenience this may cause and assures tesco customers of their care and commitment to the highest standards of safety and quality at all times. the tesco supplier code can be located on the back of the packet. it is the 0141 number on the bottom line that follows 'tesco '96'. note to editors: free customer helpline 0800 505555
